Developing Resources for Students

Do you have a valuable resource that may help students plan service learning projects, or develop research topics? Under the "Search Opportunities and Resources" link, students can find many available resources to help them with their projects.

Below you'll find a description of each type of resource, and then a link to a guidebook to show you how to post them.

Forms
Forms are any guide that you think would be helpful to students when researching, planning or completing a service learning project or research paper. These include planning guides, "how to" pages and pre/post service reflection activities.

Idea Generator
This is just what it sounds like. Perhaps you have a list of possible service project or research topics you'd like to share with students. Maybe you have special knowledge of a specific area and want to post your contact information so students can call and ask you questions.

Publication
This tool allows you to post any articles or links to publications that may help students with their projects. It is possible to either paste a publication directly onto the page (best for short articles) or to put a link to an online publication.

Success Story
Do you have an example of a past project that worked really well in the past and you'd like to see replicated? Do you have a great idea or a best practices example to share? Post it in this section.

Mailing List
This allows you to list any mailling lists (online or real mail) you think could be helpful in finding or planning projects. Newsletters, weekly updates, etc. are all examples of what could be included in this section.

Useful Link
Think you have an outstanding website full of project or topic information? Post it here! This can be your agency's webpage or any other useful page. Be sure you check to make sure that it isn't already listed though.

Scholarships
There are thousands of scholarships available to student voluteers! If you know of any local or national scholarship opportunities for young people, please add them! Again, please check to make sure you're not duplicating any.

Posting Resources on the Service Learning Database
In order to list your resources on the Servic Learning Database, you must first register and receive a username and password. You can do this by calling Kate McPherson at 360-576-5070. Once you have completed this step, return to this page and download the Service Learning Database Guidebook, and follow the instructions on how to post your resources.
